| 2 | ビッグデータを使った英語の理解：語法と異文化理解のつながり | 英語という教科は、英語運用能力を高めるだけでなく、異文化を深く理解することも求められます。しかし、異文化理解とは社会科教育的側面もあり、どう着手したらよいのか難しいです。 本講座では、言葉の「トレンド」をグラフ化して英語と文化の関連性を考えたり、ネット上の肯定的・否定的意見を集めて英語話者の感情を分析します。また、コーパスを使って、教育現場と実際に使われている英語を比較して、そこで発見される「ギャップ」にどう向き合うかを考えます。 |

| 5 | English PowerPoint Tips | This class is designed to teach and explore the most effective uses of PowerPoint in teaching English. PowerPoint is a powerful tool, but can easily make content more confusing rather than less. We will look at layout choices, aethetics, and information management in order to most clearly communicate important information to an audience. The class should help teachers make good choices in how to integrate PowerPoint (and other presentation software) into their classes for best effect. |

| 6 | English Language Debate | This class is intended to introduce the participants to both the idea of debate and its pragmatic use in academic and everyday settings. As a base format, the Japanese HEnDA (High school English Debate Association) format will be introduced. The skills of debate and argument should help students learn to engage in critical thinking: including evaluating evidence, understanding reasoning and considering the values of possible outcomes. Debate skill is also important in everyday conversation.
