Field Trip to Kyoto
Kyoto is not too far away, and is a beautiful and traditional town so it is definitely worth a visit!
From the 29th of November until the 30th we went on a field trip to Kyoto. Kyoto is very close, only 40 minutes away if you take the Shinkansen. On the 29th, after leaving our stuff at the hotel, we took the subway to Arashiyama. You can go to all of the biggest places in Kyoto by the subway. At Arashiyama there’ a famous bridge, a beautiful river and many different shops. There is also the Tenryuu Temple. At the Tenryuu temple there is a big and beautiful garden with koi fish ponds and bamboo forests. If you are lucky you might also be able to spot a crane.
On the 30th we first went to the Heian Shrine. At the Heian Shrine you have Japan’s oldest train and a incredibly beautiful garden. At a bridge in the garden you can feed the koi fish, and turtles might appear as well. From the Heian Shrine we walked to the Kiyomizu Temple. At the Kiyomizu temple there is various things to do and places to go. After visiting the Kiyomizu temple, we went back to the station, boarded the shinkansen and returned to the university. Everyone agrees that it was a fun trip!
