Application Requirements

Eligible applicants must fully understand our admissions policy, fall under one of items (1) through (8) below, and meet all requirements listed in items A through E.

  1. High school or secondary school graduates or those expected to graduate by March 2026
  2. Those who have completed, or expect to complete by March 31, 2026, the usual 12 years of schooling (third-year students in the case of those in high school programs at special education schools or studying at technical colleges)
  3. Those who have completed, or expect to complete by March 31, 2026, a course of study at an overseas educational facility recognized as equivalent to high school education by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  4. Those who have completed (or expect to complete by March 31, 2026, or other date specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) MEXT-designated high school courses at a vocational school (limited to those providing three or more years of coursework and meeting the standards set forth by the Minister)
  5. Those who have, or expect to have by March 31, 2026, a Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of Upper Secondary School Graduates, and who will have turned 18 years old by March 31, 2026 (also includes those who have passed the University Entrance Qualification Examination)
  6. Those who have completed, or expect to complete by March 31, 2026, university prep requirements abroad with an International Baccalaureate, Abitur, Baccalaureate, A-level GCE, Cambridge International A-level, or European Baccalaureate
  7. Those who have completed, or expect to complete by March 31, 2026, their education at an institution certified by an international accreditation organization (WASC, CIS, ACSI, NEASC, Cognia or COBIS)
  8. Those who have undergone our individual application screening process and are recognized as having the academic competence equivalent to a high school graduate or better, and who will have turned 18 years old by March 31, 2026
  1. Must be a person without Japanese citizenship or have only obtained Japanese citizenship in the last 6 years (as of March 31, 2026)
  2. Must have resided in Japan for a maximum of 9 years since entering the country (as of March 31, 2025, excludes those who resided in Japan prior to entering elementary school)
  3. Must be legal residents of Japan under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act with a non-student visa
  4. Must have level N2 or higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or be certified by the president of the university has having an equivalent level of Japanese proficiency
  5. Must be highly motivated to enter Aichi Shukutoku University and consider it their first choice

International student tuition exemptions

After enrollment, international students are eligible for a tuition reduction of up to 30% of their tuition fees through a selection process based on the Aichi Shukutoku University Regulations on Tuition Reductions and Exemptions for Privately Financed International Students.
