Application Requirements
IMPORTANT: Prospective students must submit all required documentation by email during the application review period so that it arrives no later than Friday, August 1 (Phase I) or Friday, October 3 (Phase II) (submitted by postal mail afterwards). Please review the application requirements carefully, as there will be no exceptions. For more information, see the Aichi Shukutoku University entrance examination requirements for the 2026 academic year, which should be posted on our website in early July.
Eligible applicants must fully understand our admissions policy, fall under (I) or (II) below, and meet all of the requirements listed in items A, B, and C.
- Those graduating or those expected to graduate by March 31, 2026 from 12 years of primary and secondary school education in a foreign country.
- Those who have undergone our individual application screening process and have been recognized as having academic competence equivalent to a high school graduate or better, or are expected to achieve an equivalent level by March 31, 2026. (Must also turn 18 years old by March 31, 2026.)
- Must be a foreign citizen (excludes those recognized as permanent residents or special permanent residents of Japan)
- Must fall under (1) or (2) below
- Students must demonstrate sufficient Japanese language proficiency for their coursework by taking one of the Japanese language tests below
Japanese language tests
- Level N2 or higher on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) offered by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services OR
- Minimum score of 220 on the reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and reading & listening comprehension sections plus a minimum score of 25 on the writing section of Japanese as a Foreign Language subject test of the Examination for Japanese University Admission (EJU)* offered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)
*Eligible EJU tests are the second (November) test administered in 2024 and the first (June) test administered in 2025.
- Students must demonstrate English language proficiency by taking one of the English language tests below, or by completing their secondary education in one of the countries designated by the university (Note: Only applies to applicants to the Faculty of Global Communication)

- Additionally, an estimated one-time payment of 2,650 yen will be collected along with enrollment processing fees to cover four years of student accident insurance during education and research activities.
- Koenkai association fees are required of all students. The university collects these fees on behalf of the association for first-year students, and annual dues of ¥10,000 are paid directly to the association thereafter.
International student tuition exemptions
After enrollment, international students are eligible for a tuition reduction of up to 30% of their tuition fees through a selection process based on the Aichi Shukutoku University Regulations on Tuition Reductions and Exemptions for Privately Financed International Students.
